1. Subject-Verb Agreement ✍️
Basic pero maraming nagkakamali! Ito ang foundation ng maayos na sentence.
Golden Rules:
Rule 1: Singular subject = Singular verb
✅ The suspect WAS arrested.
❌ The suspect WERE arrested.
Rule 2: Plural subject = Plural verb
✅ The officers WERE dispatched.
❌ The officers WAS dispatched.
Rule 3: "Either/or, Neither/nor" - Verb agrees with nearest subject
✅ Either the captain or the officers ARE responsible.
✅ Either the officers or the captain IS responsible.
Rule 4: Collective nouns - Usually singular
✅ The team IS ready for deployment.
Exception: When members act individually → plural
⚠️ Tricky Cases:
- • Each, Every, Everyone → Always singular
- • None → Can be singular or plural (context)
- • A number of → Plural | The number of → Singular
- • News, Mathematics, Physics → Singular (looks plural but isn't)
