1. Concepts of CHN 🌍

Community Health Nursing combines nursing skills with public health principles.

  • Client: The Community (Population as a whole).
  • Goal: Health Promotion & Disease Prevention.
  • Philosophy: "Health is a birthright."
  • Strategy: Primary Health Care (PHC) - Accessible, Affordable, Available, Acceptable.

2. Levels of Prevention 🛡️

Primary

Prevention BEFORE disease.

Ex: Immunization, Health Education, Sanitation.

Secondary

Early Diagnosis & Treatment.

Ex: Screenings (BP check, Pap smear), Contact Tracing.

Tertiary

Rehabilitation & Limitation of Disability.

Ex: Physical Therapy, Support Groups, Post-stroke care.

3. Herbal Medicine (DOH Approved) 🌿

  • Lagundi: Asthma, Cough
  • Sambong: Anti-urolithiasis (kidney stones)
  • Ampalaya: Diuretic, edema
  • Garlic (Bawang): Hypertension, Cholesterol
  • Guava (Bayabas): Antiseptic (wounds)
  • Tsaang Gubat: Stomach ache
  • Yerba Buena: Pain (analgesic)
  • Akapulko: Antifungal (ringworm)
  • Ulasimang Bato: Gout (uric acid)
  • Niyog-niyogan: Deworming (ascaris)
